Arts Beyond the Classroom (ABC) is a comprehensive arts enrichment program taking place at partnering outreach facilities, Chapman Partnership for the Homeless, Mount Olive Baptist Church, Gibson-Bethel Community Center and within ArtSouth’s Main Campus with 4 classroom/studio spaces, an exhibition gallery, gift shop, computer lab, clay workroom, music and dance studio and permanent collection space.
ArtSouth’s artists-as-teachers and professionals in the field provide after school, summer camp, no-school holiday and weekend workshops, field trips, and year-round classes for children, ages 4-17. ABC provides a nurturing safe learning environment during non-school hours for families that live within South Miami’s surrounding Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area (NRSA), in homeless shelters and programs for children with disabilities.
ArtSouth strives to fill the gap in public school art education by providing necessary arts education for children living in under-served environments. We seek to improve the lives of these children by offering no-cost arts education which includes free instruction and all materials and supplies.
ABC provides county-wide yearlong programs and service learning experiences for hundreds of grade school students in the visual & performing arts during the school day, after school and on weekends. ABC magically transforms youth with informative and creative lessons using various media.

ArtSouth hosts several local schools to join their Service-Learning Program. This highly successful curriculum brings school students to ArtSouth to learn music, singing, dance, painting, ceramics or folklore crafts from ArtSouth artists-as-teachers. The students then go out into the community to teach what they have learned to senior adults and provide services for children with special needs.
